PaY Attention
All things are cyclical. Technology is a tremendously useful tool. In this video, the producers pointed out how much young people use all forms of technology. This is true, and I think using this to interest students is a good idea, but, I think , teachers can develop other creative ways to hold students attention. I'm not altogether convinced that spending so much time "connected" is a truly healthy or useful way to develop creativity. In some ways all the "stuff", has the opposite effect.

I think that if technology helps you to stay connected to your colleagues and increases your opportunities for collaboration, it's a good thing. If it allows you to connect with people around the globe as colleagues, I think it is a good thing. If it allows you to tap into others' ideas and gives you insights into teaching in ways you've never thought of, it's a good thing. If it makes your job easier because someone has already put out there something you can use in your classroom, it's a good thing. If it allows you to connect with your students in ways that they appreciate, it's a good thing. If you use it half-halfheartedly, not because of its benefits but because you feel obligated, and you grouse about all the problems you're having with it, you'll pass that negativity on to your students and colleagues, and I think that's a bad thing. So, I guess you should use technology because you want to use it, because you think it is for the greater good, and because you believe the outcome will be worth the extra time you've spent learning to use it, or you should move on to something else that you enjoy so you can pass that happiness on...
